About Elliptical Trainers
Elliptical trainers represent the next wave of advancement in low-impact cardiovascular exercise machines and continue to grow in popularity. By simulating motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing, elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine. With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees, back, and hips.
Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs, all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own home.
Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs, forward and reverse directional movement, EKG grip pulse handles, a lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and heart rate. Other types of exercise machines, namely treadmills and bikes, offer excellent cardiovascular exercise and muscular training for the legs in a forward-motion exercise. Elliptical trainers take this to the next level by offering an upper and lower body workout with dual motion, challenging and diverse programs, and a low-impact exercise machine that won't strain sensitive joints.

I purchased this machine a month ago and use it everyday. I already have a Proform treadmill but it took so long to get the calories you desired. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase and would strongly recommend this to anyone who wants a good work out. You can use the machine manually or use a preset work out. I really like the preset workouts b/c it changes the resistance level and makes you work. It is like having a personal trainer there with you. The digital display is mulit-color and tells you if you are with in range. The best part is that it is so very quiet. I can work out late at night when my kids are sleeping and it doesn't wake them up.

By FPS Girl
I ordered this machine at Costco for $600 ($200 off). It arrived in a large box with hundreds of pieces. It took me about 4 hours to put the machine together (by myself). Everything is very sturdy and solid. The machine runs very smoth and quiet and the console is great.
The only part that bothers me is that there's no MP3 port as announced in all their ads. All I could find it a headphone jack and a plug for an AC adapter. I'm very disappointed about that because this was one of the reasons I bought this machine. I guess I have to just put up with using headphones. Otherwise the machine is great.

By obsidian dusk
from the beginning I knew there was going to be problems with this product...
right out the box the plastic cover on the platform broke, then when putting the handle bars on the cast bronze bushings cracked, when I call customer service she told me they should just pop on and sent me two extra in the mail...turns out the original along with one of the ones she sent me weren't machined properly, i.e it would have never gone on the shaft of the axle after getting that solved and almost completing putting it together the same thing happens with the bushing for the right pedal axle. I wound up putting it together without a bushing on that side and am currently waiting for another one. Everythings that cheap plastic that easily cracks, and they have self tapping screws where there should be a more sturdy connection, i.e. connecting the console to the base (do not lean on this!) I paid $500 on their website for this on special, I now wish I would have purchased a sole, its double the money but Im sure I wouldnt have had the problems I had with this one, you get what pay for and Ive learned my lesson...
